2011-2012 Building the Aboriginal Children’s Village
A three-storey mixed-use project including 26 residential units on the upper two floors with associated amenity space, retail and office spaces on the main floor.
The building is dedicated to Aboriginal children and their parents.
2009-2011 Under 1 Roof project to renovate & re-establish Aboriginal Mother Centre
- 16 transitional housing units for homeless pre & post natal mothers and their children
- A Drop-in Centre with a healthcare program, lunch program and LifeSkills and Parenting courses offered to mothers living on-site and living in the community
- A 25-Child Daycare offering culturally sensitive and special childcare for 2 ½ -5 year olds.
- Social Enterprise: Mama’s Wall Street Knitting Studio
- Four Commercial Rental Units for Community service providers
2009-2011 Totem Pole Carving Project
Nisga’a artist, Mike Dangeli and his team are carving a series of totem poles on location for a time at Hastings Elementary school to share a cultural experience with children in Vancouver’s Eastside. The poles will eventually be erected at Aboriginal Children’s Village and Aboriginal Mother Centre.
